About Britain's Next Top Coach
What is Britain's Next Top Coach?
Held against the backdrop of the 2012 Olympic games, Britain's Next Top Coach is an exciting new internet based competition designed to discover the most inspirational and talented individuals emerging from within the UK self-help & personal development industry and connect them to a public searching for ways to improve their lives.
Can you imagine what life would be like if we adopted a ‘give it a go’ attitude’, if we strived to fully engage in our work and relationships, looked to take responsibility for our own health and wellbeing and took joy in the participation rather than the ‘winning’ or ‘losing’ of our chosen race. This is the Olympic spirit that Team GB showed in Beijing and which is coming to our own shores in 2012.
Over the next 4 years we are looking to create a real and lasting legacy to Great Britain’s hosting of the 2012 Olympics - a legacy that goes beyond the buildings and physical infrastructure created to host the games but rather to the heart of the nation. A legacy that shifts the culture of a nation - a legacy in which the self help profession can play a very special role. We are looking to inspire a nation to greatness
To help us in this ambitious task we have received the support and backing of many of the UK's current top coaches. Visit our Experts page to see who is working with us and what they think about the competition.
The winner of the competition will be the individual who is viewed by the voting public to be the most exciting, inspirational and talented coach.
Where did the idea come from?
Britain’s Next Top Coach was born out of a need to:
- provide people with the inspiration, encouragement and practical tools necessary to make the changes they desire in order to achieve their dreams.
- help provide a voice and a platform for the most exciting, inspirational and talented individuals emerging from the self-help & personal development community.
If we look at the world today, we can’t help but notice the amount of conflict that exists. There are conflicts between nations, companies, neighbours, communities, religious groups, friends and loved ones. We only have to switch on the TV, the radio or read a newspaper, if we want confirmation of that. And all of the negative media attention makes the problems of the world seem irresolvable. Yet, whilst they are certainly not easy to solve, that’s entirely different to them being irresolvable. What’s required is a sense of belief, a sense at least, that things could be different. This is leadership and true leadership inspires people to step up and take action.
There isn’t one of us who fully knows what we can achieve and the difference we can make to our own life or to the lives of others until we actually give something a go. Yet sometimes "giving something a go" takes us so far out of our comfort zone that we feel unable to act for fear of failure. It's in those exact moments that we really need a source of inspiration, some guidance, some practical tools and advice we can readily use.
When we become inspired and develop the confidence and ability to achieve things through our own efforts we do have to take from others in order to feel "safe and secure" and that in turn reduces the conflict we have in our lives. And there really is no better place to look for the inspiration and guidance we need than from those who are actively “doing it” or who have achieved something they never thought possible. In doing so we can find a purpose for living that transcends simply making money and reaches the much deeper issue of what we can contribute to life: we are changing the world "one me" at a time.
As Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see."
